Having enjoyed a career which incorporated Technical Administration and teaching English in Japan, John joined Newcastle University as a mature student in 2009 to study for a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Statistics and Information Systems. After graduation, he sought to apply his analytical and programming skills in a biological context, which lead him to study for an MSc in Bioinformatics.
John’s Master’s Degree research project involved the development of a package to facilitate the use of the libSBML programming library within the statistical programming environment R.
In December 2013 he joined the Bioinformatics Support Unit as a Bioinformatics Technician.
